Sharon Nied's EFL Award.

Service to the Game Awards: Congratulations to Sharon Nied who won an EFL Award for her contribution to football: WELL DONE SHARON!

Sharon has been involved in football in the EFL for many years; she began at Lilydale as a teenager helping in the canteen on Saturdays. With her father, brother and future husband all playing at Lilydale, Sharon was always around to help. She took over the role of Canteen manager along with her mother Beryl in 1987; this role included running the canteen during the EFL finals of 1987.  Every Thursday night Sharon would cook around 40 meals for the players after training. The boys would always look forward to the hearty meals up for grabs. Sharon left Lilydale as a helper in 1992 after the birth of her first child Chris, but stayed around as an avid supporter for many years to follow. In 2000 Chris started his football career at Knox Eagles and once again Sharon was around to help.  She has held many varied roles on committee including general committee member, registrations, uniform shop, banners and milestones, organisation of the social functions and her most important role, that of club Secretary which she has held since 2007 and still holds today. Sharon has been a member of the Executive at Ferntree Gully through some great changes in the club including achieving AFL Gold Level accreditation, member of the Good Sports program, being part of the merger with Ferntree Gully Seniors, and winning of the Gordon Parker Junior Club of the year 2010, this has seen Ferntree Gully Juniors become a strong club that is well respected amongst its peers. Sharon was awarded Life Membership to Ferntree Gully in 2010.
