President Report... Round 4 This week I wish to pay tribute to the very many people who combine each and very week to make the Ferntree Gully Eagles Junior Football Club tick over. Each has their respective and important role to play without whom there would be no club: • All coaches - who give of their personal time, energy and emotion; • All team managers - who co-ordinate all aspects of game day (and leading up to game day) and for their support of their coach and team members; • All support officials including Trainers, Runners, Waterboys (or girls or people), Umpire Escorts, Gaol Umpires, Boundary Umpires, etc. • All parents who help out in the canteen and for preparing the players for game-day.
Whilst this is dangerous to do (as I know I will miss out on some people), I wish to particularly name and thank just a few who continue to give selflessly including: • Darren Jacobson - our coaching co-ordinator • Patrick Hines - our football operations co-ordinator • Lisa Mack - our Trainer co-ordinator; Sponsors co-ordinator; and Registrations • Paul Vertigan and Stephen Hough – our property stewards • Peter Cole - our Team Manager co-ordinator and Grants person • Sandro Maio - our Newsletter co-ordinator • Paul Eacott (PJ) - behind the bar • Greg Lawson - our Honour Boards and Trophies co-ordinator • Noreen Adams – our canteen co-ordinator • Tess Woods – our Minutes Secretary
I also thank the General Committee for their ongoing help and support; and to the Executive without whom the club would struggle to function: • Gary Bass - Vice President (and MC and function co-ordinator…) • Sharon Nied - Secretary (and everything else the club needs…) • John Evans - Treasurer (and handy-man…) Finally, our sponsors – all of whom contribute either financially, in kind or in advice. Particular thanks to Graham Gardiner (Bristol Paints) who has arranged the painting of the walls at Pickett Reserve. A letter will soon be forwarded to all club members asking that you consider purchasing goods and services from our sponsors – a list of our sponsors and contact details will also be included. Please support our sponsors – all of whom support our club.
Thanks to the Under 13’s for arranging dinner last Sunday night 2 May – the spit roast and chicken roles were just delicious! Thanks also to Nick Wakeling MP for attending; and for the supply and awarding of the Mother’s Day Hamper.
Finally, wishing all Mums a very Happy Mother’s Day for this coming Sunday - I trust you will all enjoy the day.
Sam Cavarra - President |
